Blogger instant indexing: faster discovery for posts

Blogger (Blogspot) is a Google-owned platform. Because it sits on Google's own infrastructure, posts published on Blogger usually enjoy rapid crawling. However, if your posts are stuck in the "Discovered - currently not indexed" limbo, you need to adjust your settings and workflow.

The built-in advantage

Google automatically pings its own indexers when a new post goes live on a .blogspot.com domain. You do not need complex API setups or third-party plugins. But this advantage only guarantees crawling, not indexing. If your blog has zero backlinks or low-quality content, Google will still refuse to index the posts.

1. Custom domain setup

If you attached a custom domain to your Blogger site, the automatic Google infrastructure ping becomes less reliable. You must verify the new custom domain in Google Search Console separately. Do not rely on the old .blogspot property. Submit your new sitemap (usually yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml) immediately after linking the domain.

2. Fix the robots.txt file

Blogger allows you to edit the custom robots.txt file and custom header tags. Many users accidentally break their indexing here. Go to Settings > Crawlers and indexing.

• Unless you are an SEO expert, turn off "Enable custom robots.txt". The default Blogger file is perfectly optimized.
• Turn on "Enable custom robots header tags". Set the Home page and Post/Page tags to all. Set the Archive/Search tags to noindex to prevent duplicate content penalties.

3. Feed settings

Blogger uses RSS and Atom feeds to notify feed readers and search engines of updates. In Settings > Site feed, ensure "Allow blog feed" is set to "Full". If you set it to "None", you sever the main communication line between your blog and Googlebot.

Pushing stubborn posts

If your Blogger settings are correct but posts still won't index, your blog lacks domain authority. Google does not trust the content enough to prioritize it. Build a few high-quality backlinks to your homepage. For individual stuck posts, copy their URLs and submit them through an external fast indexing service to force a direct quality evaluation by Googlebot.
